Inspired by some oak offcuts that were far too good to be firewood, Steve has been meticulously crafting these oak endgrain chopping boards since 2019.
Each chopping board is unique, and based on patterns that emerge from the grain and medullary rays inherent in each piece of oak.
Sizes vary according to the material available, with an emphasis on minimising waste.
End grain oak is the perfect material for use with hand-crafted chef's knives, as the grain yields to the blade and self-heals without blunting the knife.
The boards are finished with his own food safe blend of One Tree Cabinets Board Butter, made with Sussex Beeswax.

Every One Tree Cabinet kitchen is handmade with care, and as such you really can make the most of even the most awkward of spaces. Most kitchen retailers have, by necessity, a standard range of cabinet sizes which they will fit into your space, then infill any gaps. When your kitchen is built from scratch especially for you by a craftsman you really can make the most of every bit.
Steve hand-built our kitchen and display/storage unit immaculately. Not only is Steve an amazing craftsman, but this is backed up by huge experience, attention to detail and budget, and the ability to proffer up practical, creative and visually brilliant solutions. Hand painted hardwood kitchen designed from the customers brief.
Steve has made a range of beautiful expertly crafted furniture for us over the last 10 years.
He has designed and made our kitchen, wardrobes, fitted and stand alone bookcases and an av unit.
I have usually had a notion of what I would like and he is skilled in translating my very rough
ideas into elegant, bespoke furniture. He is also excellent at suggesting materials and
ingenious ways of making the pieces. I would highly recommend his work!

Classic Shaker style hand painted wardrobes will perfectly suit one room, whilst chic flush door wardrobes will be just the ticket in another.
Here are some examples of wardrobes designed with each client, all carefully hand made by One Tree Cabinets.
We were thrilled with the results of Steve’s work. He designed and built us a bespoke cupboard for under our stairs which is now a feature of our house, and is super use of that “dead” space. He also customised new master bedroom wardrobes. His work is detailed and meticulous, and he takes special care to ensure that the result is not only unique but perfectly tailored to the client’s requirements. He takes particular care too in the planning and design stage and that effort is reflected in the results. I only wish that I could have had him build the jack in the box spring-loaded storage staircase!

These wardrobe doors are spray finished and have a finger-pull routed into the leading edge so no handles are required. The interiors are birch plywood with a white stain and wax finish. Designed in conjunction with the customer the interiors were built as near as possible to their sketch.
Making the most of those tricky to get to spaces....
One Tree Cabinets make bespoke drawers and cupboards to fit under stairs and in eaves. These photographs were taken on a phone camera at the end of fitting, apologies they're a bit dark.
